Starting from picturesque Padstow, famous for its fishing industry and seafood restaurants, the route crosses the Camel Estuary via stepping stones or ferry to reach the quieter village of Rock. The return journey follows woodland paths and quiet lanes through the North Cornwall countryside, offering contrast to the bustling waterfront. Excellent wildlife spotting—egrets, herons, and oystercatchers frequent the estuary. The route passes through St Enodoc Church's hidden valley and offers views across Padstow Bay. Perfect for a leisurely full-day walk combining estuary, village, and countryside scenery. Good cafés and pubs available in both Padstow and Rock.

Walking Steps:

  1. Start at Padstow Harbour Car Park – Explore the working fishing harbour and waterfront.

  2. Walk along North Quay – Follow the estuary path with views upstream (~0.5 km).

  3. Cross Camel Estuary – Use stepping stones or take the passenger ferry to Rock (~1 km).

  4. Explore Rock village – Small coastal settlement with beach and cafés (~1.5 km).

  5. Head inland – Leave the waterfront and climb into woodland paths.

  6. Visit St Enodoc Church – Hidden tiny church in a valley setting (~4 km).

  7. Follow country lanes – Quiet rural paths through farmland (~6 km).

  8. Return towards Padstow – Cross fields and lanes heading back west (~8 km).

  9. Arrive back at Padstow – Complete the loop at the harbour (~9.4 km).
